How does a bike fitting work?
Our two-hour bike fitting goes beyond matching the size of your bike frame to your inseam. It includes a comprehensive physical exam based on your needs as a rider. Additionally, we use motion-capture technology and live-action joint measurements to ensure you have a correct bicycle fit.
We fit all types of bikes, including tandem bicycles, recumbent bikes (three-wheel bikes) and fat-tire bikes.
Each bike fitting includes:
- LED markers placed in key locations to capture 120 frames per second of data throughout your pedal stroke.
- Our team of professionals analyzing your ride from each side, the front and the back ensuring a global perspective.
- A focus on your comfort and performance
- Discussion of your riding history and goals
- A printed report summarizing your bike fitting
- As needed, information on exercise, stretching and training programs
- Printed materials showing you how to recreate your correct bike position at home
- A physical exam catered to the demands of cycling
Additionally, you can rent our cycling lab for up to two riders if you are looking to ride or race in winter. Our technology, paired with Zwift's online training program, allows you to ride casually or race in a realistic setting.
How much does a bike fitting cost?
The out-of-pocket cost for a two-hour bike fitting is $225. However, costs may vary as health insurance coverage may apply. We also offer team and group rates. Please call our team with any pricing questions.
How should my bike fit?
Some of the basics of how your bike should feel when you have the correct bike fit include:
- Your seat height should allow you to almost fully extend your leg when the pedal is at the bottom.
- You should position your handlebars so that you have a slight bend in your elbows.
- Your saddle should be level so you aren’t sliding backwards or forwards.
- Your neck should feel comfortable, not like you are shrugging your shoulders.
During your bicycle fitting, our experts will make proper bike adjustments to make sure you are comfortable and efficient while riding. This will help reduce the chance of injury.
Additionally, if you are looking to purchase a bike, utilize size charts that are specific to the brand you are looking at. This will help you determine what size bicycle is right for you.
What type of bike is right for me?
To decide what type of bike is right for you, you first need to identify what your goals are for the type of riding you will be doing:
- Hybrid bikes are best for leisure to moderate workouts, and they are a great option when riding with kids or on local bike paths.
- Road bikes are best for when you are riding longer distances or for faster-paced racing.
- Mountain bikes are best for going off road, over rocks and through uneven terrain.
- Tandem bikes are bicycles built for two riders, with seats that can be positioned either front and back or side-by-side.
Once you find the type of bike that fits your needs, schedule a bike fitting to ensure you have a correct bike fit. This will give you ultimate comfort and performance while riding.
