Our care team will be by your side throughout your surgical journey, offering support and guidance. Rest assured we are here to provide you with the highest level of care.
Bellin Health Surgery Prepare is a modern, patient-centric approach to coordinating care for patients like you. Our goal is to establish an optimal plan for care before, during and after your surgery to ensure the success of your procedure.
What to Expect in Preparing for Your Surgery
Our team of providers collaborates to create a directive for a positive patient experience at every stage of the surgical process. Together, our care team works to identify any risks you might face and address them before your surgery. This includes strategies to reduce problems with high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, smoking and other acute or chronic conditions.
In addition, we offer access to transportation services and support systems to help during your recovery after discharge. Whatever you need, our team is ready to care for you at every step.
Preparing Your Child for Surgery
Our providers offer pediatric services for children as young as 2 years old. They strive to create an environment where your child feels safe, calm and ready for the procedure. This ensures your child is comfortable throughout their surgical experience.
The team works closely with your child to explain the procedure in a compassionate, age-appropriate way. They also provide instructions about what to expect for your child’s stay, all while answering any questions you have along the way.

Prepare Provider
Your prepare provider may be a physician, nurse practitioner or physician assistant. They’ll ensure you’re as medically safe as possible to have your surgery. Your provider will order any additional testing, refer you for specialty care and communicate their findings with your surgeon and primary care provider.
Nurse Navigator
The nurse navigator is here to lead you through your operative experience. Think of them as your guide during the treatment process. You’ll meet your nurse navigator in the prepare clinic.
Physical Therapist
If needed, a physical therapist will see you before surgery to teach you and your support person how to use devices to help you walk or manage stairs. They may provide simple strength exercises for pre- and post-surgery healing.
Case Manager
We also have a case manager available to meet with you before surgery. They can help plan a safe discharge home, coordinate any community resources and services you might need, file paperwork like an Advance Directive or Power of Attorney and address any financial concerns.
