Green Bay Mayor lauds contributions of nurses in all areas of healthcare
Green Bay Mayor Eric Genrich today issued a proclamation recognizing Nurses Month and honoring the contributions of these critical members of the healthcare system.
Genrich shared the proclamation and made brief remarks during a Wednesday morning event at Bellin Hospital. Bellin nurses and other care team members were on hand for the celebration. Click here to access a gallery of images from the event.
“Today we honor all the knowledgeable, hard-working nurses who provide excellent care to patients, both in the city of Green Bay and across the state and nation,” Genrich said. “We all have a story about a nurse who has made a difference for us, or our loved ones. Nurses are invaluable members to our community and to the patients and families they serve.”
National Nurses Week is celebrated from May 6-12, concluding on the birthday of Florence Nightingale, who is widely regarded as the founder of modern nursing. National Nurses Month is celebrated during May.
“Our nurses have always been invaluable members of our care teams, and the COVID-19 pandemic has only served to underscore the incredible importance of all they do for our patients and their loved ones,” said Bellin Health Chief Nursing Officer Laura Hieb. “Nurses Week and Month offer a great opportunity to express our gratitude, and we are thankful to Mayor Genrich for taking the time to recognize all nurses in this way.”
Bellin Health employs more than 2,000 nurses across its footprint in Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
