OCONTO — Bellin Health Oconto Fitness will welcome kids ages 3-14 to swim, bike and run Sunday, Aug. 13 during the inaugural Bellin Health Fitness Kids Triathlon.
With four different courses suitable for every age and skill level, the event is designed to offer an enjoyable way for kids to get active, said Bellin Fitness Team Facilitator and Personal Trainer Kasey Eisch-Ermis.
“We want to show kids that physical activity is fun and that they can challenge themselves on our course while still having a great time,” Eisch-Ermis said. “We hope to help our participants develop healthy physical fitness habits that last a lifetime.”
Triathlon events will follow a staggered start schedule the morning of Sunday, Aug. 13 at Bellin Health Oconto Fitness, 1201 Park Ave., Oconto. Please note that all participants are responsible for bringing their own bike and helmet.
Age groups, start times and course lengths are as follows:
- Long course
Ages 11-14; start time 8:30 a.m.
Swim 100 yards, bike 4.58 miles, run 1.19 miles - Medium course
Ages 7-10; start time 9:30 a.m.
Swim 50 yards, bike 2.1 miles, run 0.85 miles - Intermediate course
Ages 7-10; start time 10 a.m.
Swim 25 yards, bike 2.1 miles, run 0.85 miles - Short course
Ages 3-6; start time 10:30 a.m.
Swim 15 yards, bike 0.49 miles, run 0.39 miles
The swim portion of the course will take place in the Bellin Health Oconto Fitness pool, with lifeguards and volunteers on hand to assist children as needed. In addition, flotation backpacks and swim noodles will be offered for children. Parents will be able to meet their children in the transition area to help them dress and prepare for the biking portion of the event. Training wheels are allowed, and parents may run alongside young children to assist as needed.

“We want all kids to be able to participate in this event, without finances being a barrier,” Eisch-Ermis said. “The Kids Triathlon is for everyone, and we can’t wait for event day.”
