GREEN BAY — There are a lot of unsung heroes in healthcare, and volunteers are high on the list. Emplify Health by is proud to have numerous volunteers who provide selfless acts of care to patients and staff and is eager to celebrate them for National Volunteer Week (April 20 – 26).
Emplify Health by Bellin and Emplify Health by Gundersen both have longstanding volunteer programs that bring in various members of our communities to assist in numerous points of the healthcare journey. In 2024, Emplify Health worked with over 700 active volunteers who put in around 55,000 hours of service. Those volunteers also helped support more than 5,600 events through Emplify Health’s service areas in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
“What I love the most about our volunteers is that they each have a unique story and reason for being here,” said Dawn McCole, Emplify Health by Bellin Volunteer Services Manager. “We see past patients, loved ones of patients, retired employees and community members who simply want to make a difference. Their selfless acts of care are truly inspiring.”
Emplify Health volunteers assist in a variety of roles within hospitals and clinics.
“We match our volunteers with roles that reflect their strengths and abilities, ensuring everyone can find a meaningful way to contribute,” said Eileen Wiltinger, Emplify Health by Gundersen Volunteer Services Manager. “Whether it’s greeting visitors, assisting patients as they navigate to appointments or working behind the scenes, there are many ways to make a positive impact.”
Becoming a volunteer is a way for anyone to give back to their community and spread empathy and compassion.
“We encourage all ages, those working or retired, to take even an hour of your day to give back,” added McCole.
