GREEN BAY — The Bellin Health Surgery & Specialty Center (SSC), which recently celebrated its one-year anniversary, has received The Center for Health Design Platinum Touchstone Award, along with its partner, HGA.
The Touchstone Awards recognizes evidence-based design processes that demonstrate achievements in collaboration, evaluation and sharing.
“It’s a great honor to have our Surgery & Specialty Center recognized for all the great work that went into designing and constructing this facility,” said Emplify Health by Bellin Vice President of Specialty Service Lines Jen Macdonald. “The collaboration from all groups, both internally and externally, helped create an environment that takes patient care to new levels.”
The Platinum level of this award honors projects that demonstrate the most impactful evidence-based design processes.
“From the start, we recognized Emplify’s commitment to making this a special project,” said Andrew Zimmer, vice president and principal with HGA. “Inspired by their dedication to their community and caregivers, we began by conducting mixed-method research to evaluate and streamline workflows, ensuring an exceptional experience for both patients and staff. With those insights, we then developed specific design features that would make a meaningful impact.”
As part of the design process, HGA worked with more than 100 interdisciplinary team members to gather as much information as possible.
“Through the research, design and construction, the SSC is able to provide a space for patients to receive care for a variety of services under one roof, while providing a collaborative space for their healthcare teams,” added Macdonald. “Receiving this award recognizes not only the work done, but also all the great work that will come from it.”
On March 11, Bellin Health and HGA representatives attended the American Society for Health Care Engineering (ASHE) PDC Summit in Atlanta to accept the award. To learn more about the Touchstone Awards, please visit The Center for Health Design website.
