Community heart health event welcomes 597 participants to Bellin Marinette
MARINETTE — The third annual Bellin 5K Heart Run/Walk took place Saturday, April 27, welcoming 597 participants to celebrate heart-healthy activity at Bellin Health Marinette. In addition to the 5K, a 1-mile community walk and children’s run were included in the event’s offerings. Participants ranged in age from 1 to 95.
This community-centered event supports heart-healthy activity for families and participants of all ages, with Bellin’s commitment to community health being reinforced with the donation of an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) to the town of Peshtigo prior to the day’s festivities. This is the third straight year Bellin was able to bring increased access to life-saving equipment in conjunction with this event. The Town of Peshtigo Fire Department received an AED in 2022, and the Marinette Police Department received a device in 2023.
The event’s 5K champion on the men’s side was Matt Kasten of Menasha, who set a new course record in 16:16. Erin Schmitt of Sheboygan reclaimed her 2022 title on the women’s side, crossing the line in 19:39.
Complete results are now available. The fourth annual Bellin 5K Heart Run/Walk will take place Saturday, May 3.
