The rankings are out and Bellin Hospital has received its sixth consecutive five-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
Ratings are based on a variety of measures across five areas of quality:
- Mortality
- Safety of care
- Readmission
- Patient experience
- Timely and effective care
“Receiving a five-star CMS rating takes on added importance this year as we continue our efforts to coexist with COVID-19,” said Bellin Health President & CEO Chris Woleske. “This designation speaks to the tireless efforts of our incredible team to provide the very best in care, no matter the circumstances.”
More than 3,300 hospitals nationwide received a star rating during this evaluation period. Of those, Bellin was one of just 455 (about 13 percent) to receive the highest rating of five stars. The last CMS star rating was issued in January 2020, before the COVID-19 pandemic began.
