CDC recommends vaccination for all children, including those with prior infection
Beginning Tuesday, July 12, Bellin Health will offer Pfizer BioNTech and Moderna COVID-19 vaccinations to individuals ages 6 months through 5 years of age at Bellin Health primary care clinics and FastCare locations.
The move comes after the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently expanded the eligibility for vaccination to those in this youngest age group. The CDC now recommends children ages 6 months through 5 years get vaccinated, even if they have already had COVID-19.
“This is great news for parents who have been waiting for this opportunity to protect their babies, toddlers and preschoolers from COVID-19,” said Bellin Health Infectious Disease Specialist Dr. Michael Landrum. “We know parents may have questions, and I encourage them to speak with their child’s healthcare provider about the benefits of vaccination for this youngest eligible group.”
Bellin Health administers COVID-19 vaccinations to patients and the public at all Bellin Health Primary Care clinic locations.
