Bellin Health is now offering bivalent COVID-19 boosters for children ages 5 and up for the Pfizer BioNTech dose and 6 and up for the Moderna dose. The vaccines will be offered at all Bellin vaccination locations after initial rollout is complete. The new bivalent booster recently was approved by the U.S Food and Drug Administration (FDA) through Emergency Use Authorization and recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
The updated booster targets two strains of COVID-19 — the original strain of the virus and the most widely spread omicron variants (BA.4 and BA.5).
“This bivalent booster dose more effectively targets the omicron variant, providing better and broader protection against the dominant strains of COVID-19,” said Bellin Health Infectious Disease Specialist Dr. Michael Landrum. “Having this available for younger children is particularly important in what is already proving to be a difficult season for respiratory illnesses, and we continue to encourage parents and families to stay fully up-to-date with their COVID vaccinations as we prepare to enter the winter months.”
Bellin Health administers COVID-19 vaccinations to patients and the public at the following locations:
- Bellin Fastlane in Green Bay (1920 Libal St.) is vaccinating during hours of operation. View hours of operation.
- Bellin Health FastCare East and West locations.
