Bellin Health, Gundersen Health System to keep funds separate
While Bellin Health and Gundersen Health System are in the process of finalizing a merger of equals for patient care, both health systems’ philanthropic foundations’ operations and fundraising efforts will remain separate.
The Bellin Health Foundation’s existing and new funds raised will remain designated for intended areas as directed by donors, said Nan Bush, President of The Bellin Health Foundation.
“Bellin and Gundersen are committed to maintaining a strong connection to the communities we serve,” Bush said. “While our planned merger of equals will allow both health systems to better serve our communities, our foundations will remain separate to ensure funds given or pledged are used as intended by our generous donors.”
Donations made to The Bellin Health Foundation will remain committed to supporting the programs and services of Bellin Health and the communities it serves, Bush said. Likewise, donations made in the past or future to Gundersen Medical Foundation will be linked to work within communities in Gundersen’s service area.
In addition to donations staying local, the foundations will remain locally governed. The Bellin Health Foundation Board of Directors consists of 10 members, who include Bellin Health care team members, as well as area business and community leaders. Originating in 1994, the Foundation’s mission is to bring community health to life through donor time, talent and treasure. More information is available at bellin.org/bellin_foundation.
