Emplify Health by Bellin and Marquette University have launched the Resch Mental Health Initiative, a bold seven-year pilot program designed to tackle the shortage of mental health professionals in Northeast Wisconsin and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
Thanks to a generous gift from The Richard J. Resch Foundation, this initiative will fully support students from education through licensure and into employment — creating a sustainable pipeline of mental health professionals for the region.
“Investing in the Resch Mental Health Initiative is an investment in the future of our region,” said Sharon Resch.
The program is expected to serve 26,000 clients annually, potentially saving the region $254 million each year in untreated mental illness costs.
Program Highlights:
- Employment opportunities with sign-on and retention bonuses
- Full scholarships and stipends for a master’s in clinical mental health counseling
- Mentorship and professional development
- Paid clinical training at Emplify Health by Bellin locations
Students begin as Resch Scholars, receiving education and mentorship, and transition to Resch Fellows as full-time professionals. The program began implementation for the fall term in 2025 — and to date, 5 students have been accepted into the initiative to comprise the first cohort.
