Designation puts hospital among the top 5 percent in the country
Bellin Hospital has been named to Healthgrades’ America’s 250 Best Hospitals list for 2019. It is the only Northeast Wisconsin hospital and one of just a handful in the state to make the list, which represents the top 5 percent of hospitals in the United States.
The designation is based on clinical quality outcomes for 32 conditions and procedures. Healthgrades evaluates each hospital’s performance on each measure compared to its predicted performance.
“Simply put, patients are more likely to have a successful treatment without major complications — and have a lower chance of dying — at America’s Best Hospitals,” Healthgrades said in a recent news release.
The Best Hospitals accolade reflects Bellin’s commitment to continuous improvement, said Bellin Health President & CEO Chris Woleske.
“We are proud to be listed among the top 5 percent of hospitals in the nation, but awards like these are not what drive us as an organization,” Woleske said. “Instead, quality, a positive patient experience and affordability for every individual who comes through our doors, each and every day, is what drives us. That has been and will always remain our steadfast commitment.”
This is Bellin Hospital’s fifth Healthgrades quality award distinction in the past 12 months. Bellin also earned Healthgrades’ Outstanding Patient Experience Award for 2018, its Cardiac Surgery Excellence Award for 2019 and a spot on its list of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Joint Replacement (2019) and America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Orthopedic Surgery (2019).
