These funds were graciously established and maintained by donors to The Bellin Health Foundation. Information on each scholarship fund can be found below. Cardiac Care
Alan F. and Ruth C. Wentworth Educational Fund
The Alan F. and Ruth C. Wentworth Education Fund is open to Bellin Health nurses for use for conferences, seminars and other continuing medical education to enhance skills directly related to cardiac care and/or cardiac rehabilitation. Academic degree programs are not eligible.
Eligibility: Must be an employed cardiac care nurse at Bellin Health.
Dr. Howard J. Palay Continuing Education Scholarship Fund
The Dr. Howard J. Palay Continuing Education Scholarship Fund is open to employees of the Bellin Health Heart & Vascular Center for use for conferences, seminars and other continuing medical education directly related to the practice of Cardiology.
Eligibility: Bellin Heart and Vascular Employees
Karl and Barbara Schwiesow Cardiac Nursing Education Fund
The Karl and Barbara Schwiesow Cardiac Nursing Education fund is available to any nurse at Bellin Health who cares for cardiac patients either in our emergency department, surgical department, inpatient department or through our cardiac rehabilitation program for continuing education and related certification expenses.
Eligibility: Must be an employed cardiac care nurse at Bellin Health.

Bellin Health Intensive Care Unit Scholarship
The Bellin Health ICU scholarship will promote lifelong learning and advancement of professional practice that will achieve the goals of providing safe quality, and cost-effective care for our patients; and increase job satisfaction and retention.

Carol and Robert Bush Excellence in Nursing Award
The Bush Excellence in Nursing award recognizes outstanding results in the field of patient care by an RN or LPN. Through this award, the Bush family wish to honor an RN or LPN who has provided extraordinary patient care.

Janis A. Mielke Memorial Nursing Certification Exam Fund
The Janice A. Mielke Memorial Nursing Certification Exam Fund was created to assist Bellin nurses with their expenses associated with taking their advanced certification exam - once the exam is successfully passed.

Mike and Rocky Calawerts Nursing Scholarship
The Mike and Rocky Calawerts Nursing Fund is made possible through the generosity of Mike and Rocky Calawerts to express their appreciation for the nursing teams who cared for Mike in January 2023. The intention of the fund is to support the continuing education of the care team of health professionals in the 7th Floor Surgical Team and the ICU at Bellin Memorial Hospital.

Nurse Joyce Scholarship Award
The Nurse Joyce Scholarship Award is made possible through the generosity of the Cardiology Associates at Bellin Health Physicians, in memory of Nurse Joyce Palladino, a long-time employee who exemplified providing exceptional, compassionate patient care. Grants are awarded to assist an individual looking for educational opportunities, including pursuing a higher education degree or certification.
Eligibility: Any Bellin Health Employee that provides patient care; Positive work record (not in disciplinary process), cannot be a previous recipient.

George Bennett Nursing Scholarship supports continuing education for Bellin staff nurses or nursing student education at Bellin College - Bachelors of Science Nursing
Eligibility: Bellin Health Nurses or Nursing Students at Bellin College
James Spyhalski Culinary Arts Endowment Fund
Grants are awarded to assist an individual looking for educational opportunities, including pursuing a higher education degree or certification. Primarily to enrich the community as a Chef, but whose financial situation may limit their pursuit of a culinary degree.
Eligibility: Must be enrolled in the culinary arts program at Fox Valley Technical College.
The Michael Wilde Nursing Education Fund
Michael Wilde Nursing Scholarship supports nursing students at Bellin College, or NWTC, and at Monroe High School who plan to pursue nursing after high school.
Eligibility: Nursing students at Bellin College, NWTC; and students from Monroe High School who plan to pursue a nursing degree.
Tim Wilmet Memorial Scholarship Fund
Tim Wilmet Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in Tim’s memory by his wife, Jody, along with family and friends, to support educational scholarships for Radiologic Science students at Bellin College. Tim Wilmet, an employee of the Bellin MRI Department and one of the first MRI techs in Northeast Wisconsin, passed away on November 22, 2016.
Eligibility: Must be enrolled at the radiological science program at Bellin College.

Julie Russell GYN Oncology Fund was established by Dr. Eric Jenison, to assist GYN Oncology patients with their treatment-related expenses and to assist GYN-Oncology staff with related educational opportunities.

John R. Underwood Business Excellence Award
John R. Underwood Business Excellence Award seeks to recognize individuals within Bellin Health who possess traits of sound business principals, integrity, tireless effort, and a deep desire to improve life in Northeast Wisconsin and honor Mr. Underwood for his part in the success of Bellin Health.
Eligibility: All Bellin employees through nomination in Lulu.
Management Women Inc.’s Leadership Scholarship
Women who are participating in or desire to participate in either the clinical investment program (CAP) or education/team facilitator advancement program. Should support the advancement of objectives of the advancement programs, Bellin Health system, and the applicant’s interest in improving their leadership. Positive performance appraisal.
