MARINETTE - The fifth annual Emplify Health by Bellin Marinette 5K Heart Run/Walk took place Saturday, April 25, welcoming a record amount of 844 participants to Emplify Health by Bellin Marinette Clinic to celebrate a milestone anniversary in promoting heart-healthy activity. In addition to the 5K, a 1-mile community walk, celebration walk and children's run were included in the event's offerings. Participants ranged in age from 2 to 92.
"The Marinette 5K Heart Run/Walk was created to promote heart-healthy activity and provide a way for the community to come together - and that's exactly what we saw on Saturday," said Race Director Brian Cleven, Cardiac Rehab Exercise Physiologist at Emplify Health by Bellin Marinette Clinic. "We are grateful to all of our participants, volunteers, spectators and community sponsors who make this a wonderful and welcoming event. We look forward to many more years of heart-healthy fun."
This community-centered event supports heart-healthy activity for participants and families of all ages. With Emplify Health by Bellin's commitment to community health, activities for participants and supporters included testing fitness skills, chances to win cool prizes, hands-on CPR training and an opportunity to run out lingering energy in an inflatable obstacle course.
Participants were supported and celebrated by family, friends, community members and staff of Emplify Health by Bellin. Race organizers would like to extend a special thank you to the event's many sponsors, including presenting partner Mursau's Piggly Wiggle and children's run sponsor Holtger Brothers.
The event's 5K champion on the men's side was Nicholas Borkovec of Howard with a time of 17:30. Berkely Chaltry of Marinette claimed the title on the women's side with her time of 19:24.
