Dramatically decreases wait time for new patients with non-emergency cardiac symptoms
Bellin Health’s award-winning Heart & Vascular Team is pleased to introduce “3-Day Heart Care,” a service that expedites care and treatment for new patients with non-emergency cardiac symptoms.
Now individuals who experience symptoms of an irregular heartbeat, tightness in the chest or shortness of breath with activity, pain in the legs that goes away with rest or other non-emergency issues will be able to schedule an appointment with a cardiologist within three or fewer business days. Today, it can take a new patient three weeks or longer to obtain this type of initial appointment.
“Through this service we can reduce the amount of time a person has to worry and wonder what might be happening to him or her,” said Bellin Health Senior Vice President Andrea Werner. “It also gives us the ability to catch potentially serious conditions sooner than we might otherwise.”
Individuals are advised that this service should not replace emergency care for sudden and severe cardiac symptoms. These include ongoing chest pain, shortness of breath, dizziness, fatigue, and pain in the arm, back, neck or jaw while at rest. Call 9-1-1 immediately if you experience any of these symptoms.
