Half Marathon Presents $25,000 to Charity Partner
Women’s Fund of Greater Green Bay is first-year beneficiary
George Kerwin, president and CEO of Bellin Health, presented the proceeds from the inaugural Bellin Women’s Half Marathon to the event’s charity partner, the Women’s Fund of Greater Green Bay, during a brief ceremony today at Bellin Hospital.
Accompanied by Bellin Women’s Half Marathon race director Linda Maxwell, Kerwin presented a check for $25,000 to Women’s Fund president Nancy Thompson and events chair Aymee Balison.
“Today’s presentation is a celebration of not only the tremendous success of our inaugural event, but also of the incredible partnership between the Bellin Women’s Half Marathon and our charity partner, the Women’s Fund of Greater Green Bay,” Kerwin said. “This phenomenal organization does amazing work in our communities, truly living its mission to empower women and inspire girls, day in and day out.”
As the event’s charity partner, the Women’s Fund provided volunteers to assist with pre-race and race-weekend activities surrounding the Sept. 26 event. A fund of the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation, the Women’s Fund provides grants to local organizations that focus on leadership and self-esteem initiatives to benefit women and girls in our area.
The second annual Bellin Women’s Half Marathon will be held Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016. More information is available at www.bellinwomenshalf.com.
