Algoma Learning Session to Encourage Healthy Living
Community Health Challenge, Live Algoma program and insurance to be discussed
The Bellin Health Community Health Challenge, in conjunction with the Live Algoma Coalition, will present a Summer Learning Session event from noon-2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19 at the Algoma High School & Community Wellness Center, 1715 Division St.
All Algoma-area employers are invited to attend the event, along with 2015 Community Health Challenge Team Champions. Highlights will include:
• Attendees will share ideas and learn best practice techniques for engaging employees in the no-cost 2015 Community Health Challenge.
• Participants will receive important information about the new Live Algoma program, a wellness partnership that already is earning accolades for its efforts to improve community health.
• Attendees will hear from local employers enrolled in the new Live Algoma Health Insurance Plan, which provides community education and resources to help residents lead healthier lives.
The Live Algoma Coalition is a partnership between the Algoma School District, Bellin Health, local employers, community agencies and government. It recently earned an Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) SCALE grant for its efforts to support promising community-based work on health improvement.
